Welcome to Lotus Therapy

Lotus Therapy was founded by Jane Gould in 2017, initially providing psychotherapy and counselling before developing into Lotus Therapy Centre – a busy multidisciplinary practice in Mansfield bringing together therapists and other professionals under one roof.

Over the years, Lotus has grown, changed and evolved.

One of the most important parts of that journey began around ten years ago, when Susannah Dirckze-Taylor joined the practice.

Jane quickly recognised Susannah’s ability as a therapist, and what began as a professional relationship developed into a close working partnership and friendship. Over the following decade, Jane and Susannah have worked alongside one another with children, young people and families, sharing ideas, experience and a commitment to providing thoughtful, individualised therapeutic support.

That longstanding relationship now forms the foundation of the next chapter of Lotus Therapy.

Today, Jane and Susannah are joint Directors and equal partners in Lotus Therapy, bringing together their different areas of experience and expertise while sharing the same fundamental belief: that good therapy begins with understanding the individual person and building a relationship in which they can feel safe, heard and accepted.

A New Chapter for Lotus

After many years of Jane running Lotus Therapy Centre in Mansfield, in 2026 we made the decision to move away from the large therapy-centre model and create something smaller, more personal and more focused on the therapeutic work we love.

Lotus Therapy now operates from Mansfield and Nottingham, providing psychotherapy, counselling and specialist therapeutic support to adults, couples, children, young people and families, alongside professional clinical supervision.

Although the way Lotus looks has changed, the values behind it haven’t.

We remain committed to providing therapy that is warm, relational, professional and shaped around the individual, drawing upon many years of experience across therapy, education, trauma, attachment, adoption and neurodiversity.

And while we each have our own areas of specialist experience, one of the strengths of working together for so long is knowing and trusting one another’s practice. When appropriate, we can draw upon each other’s knowledge and perspectives to help people find the therapist and approach that feels right for them.

Therapy & Counselling

We provide psychotherapy and counselling for individual adults and couples, as well as children, young people and families.

People come to therapy for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, bereavement, trauma, relationship difficulties, changes within your life or simply a feeling that something isn’t quite right.

Whatever brings you to therapy, we’ll meet you as an individual rather than expecting you to fit a particular model or way of working.

Children, Young People & Families

We have extensive experience of working therapeutically with children, young people, parents and families, with particular expertise in trauma, attachment, neurodiversity and complex family relationships.

Our work includes Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP)-informed approaches, Therapeutic Life Story Work and Dance Movement & Creative Arts Psychotherapy, alongside individual and family therapeutic work.

We also provide specialist therapeutic support for adopted children and young people through the appropriate local-authority and adoption-support commissioning pathways.

Clinical Supervision

Jane provides Person-Centred, relational clinical supervision to qualified and trainee therapists and to professionals working in education, health and other helping professions.

Supervision offers a supportive and appropriately challenging space to reflect on your work, relationships, professional development and the impact the work can have on you.

Meet Jane & Susannah

At the heart of Lotus Therapy are two therapists who have worked alongside one another for a decade.

We bring different professional backgrounds, experience and specialist interests to our work, but share the values that underpin the way we practise.

Most importantly, we know and trust each other – as therapists, colleagues, business partners and friends.

As Lotus begins its next chapter, we’re bringing together everything we’ve learned over the years while keeping the thing that has always mattered most to us at the centre of the practice:

the people we work with and the relationships we build with them.
